Eaton Center, Interior Space Renovation

Eaton Corporation

1111 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio

Project design was done in 2004 and involved renovation of 17th, 19th, 24th and 26th Floors of the Eaton Center.  Existing mechanical and electrical systems (ductwork, chilled water piping, sprinkler layout, lighting, power, fire alarm) were modified to meet requirements of new office layouts.

On 24th Floor a new Air Handling Unit was added with the mechanical equipment room in the middle of occupied office area.  Supression of sound/vibration transmissions from the unit to occupied office spaces was a challenge.  The problem was handled effectively by incorporating special features in the design.  New variable volume terminal boxes and new air outlets were added for individual zone control.

Being a renovation project it required fieldwork/coordination with existing  mechanical and electrical conditions to avoid interferences/conflicts.  Design also included electrical design/layout of new lighting systems matching previously renovated floors; power/communication layout of new office spaces showing receptacles, data and voice outlets; layout of open offices feeding pre-wired furniture partitions; upgraded Fire Alarm system to meet codes; re-working existing television studio lighting system/controls; power connection for all HVAC equipment.
